Fans Demand Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the Australian man bypassing photographers and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last winter.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, earning two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
